ANJ Partners with Brut on Gambling Addiction Recovery Video

The Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) has partnered with digital media platform Brut to distribute a powerful testimony video featuring a former problem gambler's journey to recovery through voluntary self-exclusion measures.

Personal Recovery Journey

The video features Bilel, a former gambling player who shares his addiction experience and decision to protect himself using ANJ's voluntary gambling ban system. His testimony illustrates the difficult path faced by excessive gamblers, challenges in finding appropriate help, and the practical utility of protection mechanisms.

The voluntary gambling ban represents a strictly personal and confidential process allowing individuals to protect themselves against risks associated with excessive gambling – including financial difficulties, addiction-related psychological disorders, and social isolation.

Growing Adoption of Self-Protection

Currently 88,000 people are registered on the voluntary gambling ban file, representing a 25% progression over the past two years. January, coinciding with New Year's resolutions, sees the highest volume of registration requests received by ANJ.

The ban prohibits access to multiple gambling channels: casinos or clubs de jeux, sports betting sites, horse racing sites, and online poker sites approved by ANJ, plus Française des jeux or PMU games online or at points of sale with player accounts.

Registration takes only minutes through a streamlined online process. The measure remains valid for a minimum duration of three years.

The testimony demonstrates how regulatory tools can provide concrete protection pathways for vulnerable players seeking to break gambling addiction cycles.

Self-Exclusion Coverage

The voluntary gambling ban provides comprehensive protection across multiple channels including casinos, sports betting sites, horse racing platforms, online poker sites approved by ANJ, and Française des jeux or PMU games both online and at physical points of sale with player accounts.

Regulatory Innovation in Player Protection

This collaboration between ANJ and Brut signals French regulators' evolving approach to responsible gambling messaging. By leveraging digital media platforms and authentic personal narratives, the initiative targets audiences who might not engage with traditional regulatory communications.

The timing reflects broader European trends toward proactive player protection, with self-exclusion tools becoming central to compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.

According to French National Gaming Authority (ANJ).
