Gaming Commission mandates EPIS-compliant age verification for all machines by 1 May 2026, with inspections starting immediately after deadline.

The Belgian Gaming Commission has set a firm compliance deadline for operators running gaming machines in daily newspaper shops, requiring full EPIS integration by 1 May 2026.
All machines must be equipped with certified computer systems capable of verifying players are 21 years or older and authenticating them within the EPIS framework. Non-compliant machines face immediate shutdown after the deadline.
The Gaming Commission will begin enforcement inspections from 1 May 2026, marking a significant shift in Belgium's age verification protocols for retail gaming operations.
The new requirements align with Belgium's broader EPIS modernisation efforts, which saw the regulator phase out legacy SOAP systems in favour of REST-based verification protocols.
