Madrid's Consejería de Interior has officially formalized an agreement with Cámara Laboratorios to provide technical support for gaming machine inspections, marking a significant step in strengthening the region's regulatory oversight capabilities.
The Comunidad de Madrid has awarded the contract for technical collaboration in inspections of type B and C gaming and gambling machines. According to the resolution, these services will provide direct support to personnel from the Subdirección General de Ordenación y Gestión del Juego in their field surveillance activities.
Single Bidder Secures Contract
Cámara Laboratorios y Metrología, S.L. emerged as the successful contractor after being the only bidder to submit a proposal for the tender. The company's technical viability was verified in accordance with public sector contract regulations, securing them the specialized role.
The contract carries a budget of €292,253.72 for the current fiscal year. However, the regional administration has established an estimated total contract value of €772,902.40, accounting for future projections and additional service requirements that may arise.
Spanish Gaming Machine Categories
Type B gaming machines are typically slot machines found in gaming halls and bars, while Type C machines include more sophisticated gaming equipment found in casinos. Both categories require regular technical inspections to verify their random number generators, payout percentages, and compliance with homologation certificates issued by Spain's gaming authorities.
Strengthening Regional Oversight
This initiative reinforces the regional executive's inspection capacity, ensuring that the gaming machine fleet strictly complies with homologation and operational requirements mandated by law. The technical reinforcement addresses the growing complexity of modern gaming technology and regulatory compliance needs.
The contract forms part of broader efforts by the Community to enhance regulatory capabilities through external specialization. Madrid recently opened a tender on 28 April 2024 for auditing technical solvency and computer systems of gaming operators, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to regulatory modernization.
With this agreement, Madrid secures professional expertise to supervise gaming activity across local venues, ensuring operators maintain the highest standards of compliance and technical integrity.
Regulatory Modernization Drive
The external technical support model reflects Madrid's recognition of the specialized knowledge required for effective gaming regulation. By partnering with Cámara Laboratorios, the region gains access to cutting-edge inspection capabilities without expanding internal resources.
This approach positions Madrid at the forefront of Spanish gaming regulation, establishing a framework that could serve as a model for other autonomous communities facing similar technological challenges in their oversight responsibilities.
