Four months after the Gordo de Navidad transformed this modest town into the epicenter of a national controversy, the local Festival Commission has virtually completed prize payments – though significant shadows remain over the regulatory failures that enabled the crisis.

The agreement, presented as the only viable solution to avoid greater conflict, failed to achieve unanimity. Six tickets rejected the reduction, though they ultimately received the same amount as others, reserving the right to pursue judicial claims for the difference.
